The Hawaii Center for Volcanology (HCV) was conceived and created in 1992 as a cooperative effort involving over 80 scientists from the primary organizations listed below. HCV is presently undergoing re-organization and re-definition of its initial mission. At present, this WWW site is the only physical manifestation of HCV. It is maintained entirely by SOEST staff members (predominantly Ken Rubin, with the assistance of Mike Garcia). Please direct questions regarding HCV to Dr. Kenneth Rubin,. Address is near the bottom of this document.

Read about some example projects of HCV members |
HCV was formed in 1992 to bring together experts from around the state of Hawaii so that we might better understand these magical mountains of fire. Although still in its infancy, we hope to one day realize this goal.
Our research interests are global in scope, yet many HCV scientists find that there's no place like home for conducting volcano studies.....
