Student Opportunities
As part of the University of Hawaii's School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology, HMRG scientists advise students in the Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy programs in both Marine Geology & Geophysics and Engineering. The general focus of our Group is to design, build and deploy new seafloor imaging systems, with the ultimate goal of turning these new technologies into practical mapping tools that can be shared by oceanographic researchers worldwide.
If you are interested in applying seafloor imaging technology as part of a graduate degree in engineering or MG&G, drop us an email. Qualities we look for in candidates include:
- a strong background in undergraduate Earth science, engineering or physics
- excellent computer skills (our work involves large digital data sets that we process in UNIX environments)
- an enthusiasm for conducting oceanographic research in all of the world's oceans.
